Integrating research and practice

The relationship between restoration science and practice is a two-way one. Firstly - practice can be improved by good science. Secondly, restoration projects can also act as research sites, contributing new information and new questions to science.

Lessons and Limitations
  • The achievement of meaningful research requires research-management partnerships.
  • Researcher involvement is necessary to ensure monitoring is designed in a way that questions can be answered.
  • Manager involvement is necessary to ensure questions are relevant to practice and take into account practical constraints.
